“I believe that sometimes people just need a little help to get up each day and put one foot in front of the other to move forward in life. Volunteers of America helps people in our communities do just that. The mission resonates with me because of the holistic approach to addressing the needs of those in our community. I am honored to serve on the board of Volunteers of America so that I can be an impactful part of a movement that serves so many. It is a privilege and a responsibility to serve, one that I am deeply committed to,” reflected Alfie.

“Since 2019 I have served as president of Seeds of Hope Inc., a home for women struggling with drug and alcohol addictions. We are now partnering with Volunteers of America, Ohio & Indiana (VOA) to develop additional homes for women and their families as mom recovers from her addictions.

Through this partnership, I became aware of the similarities in mission of both Seeds of Hope and VOA. Both organizations strive to offer hope, restore dignity, and transform lives to help people reach their full potential. I look forward to serving on the VOA board of directors to help even more people reach their full potential.”

John Singleton
John Singleton is Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Community Choice Financial Family of Brands in Columbus, Ohio. He is an accomplished lobbyist with 20+ years of experience in Ohio State Government and government affairs. John also serves as a Board Member for the Franklin County Hospital Commission and Ohio Children’s Hunger Alliance.

“As a Volunteers of America (VOA) Government Relations consultant for over a decade, I got to see the amazing services they provide and how the VOA works to uplift a person’s mind, body and soul. I am honored to be on the VOA Board and will do my best to build upon the foundation established by others before me,” shared John.

These new volunteer leaders join members from across Ohio and Indiana to make up the two-state governing board of Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana.
